At CraftStrom, we believe in empowering all people to join the renewable energy revolution. All aspects of the design of our battery lead to one goal: Providing a battery system for all those people interested in solar batteries to use in their daily, active lives, without the constraints of requiring loans or installation companies. For that purpose, we have created the first true plug&play home battery with Artificial Intelligence that can power your home through any standard power outlet. We found that most people interested in joining the renewable energy revolution do not fall into typical solar/battery categories of the most prominent companies, such as Tesla or Sonnen. CraftStrom products are designed and sized for apartments, renters and tiny homes or RVs. Not only the size, but how users install and interact with the battery, is essential. Renting your home and living in an apartment create entry barriers into the renewable energy market for customers. Therefore, the battery needed to be - designed for small spaces - require no mechanical or electrical installation - able to be combined with solar energy - intelligent to learn about the electricity consumption and production for each customer - engineered to tight standards to work on-grid, utilizing existing home grids to connect solar and battery. The main aspects were: Shape & Size: Available space costs a premium in most cities, where individual garages or roof space are scarce. We move the battery into the living space, preferably with a beautiful design - monumental in statue - worthy of prime living room space! We went through multiple design iterations before landing our appreciated design. It was clear from the beginning that the battery would be standing upright in a base, which would then connect it to the house grid through a standard power outlet. We finally chose a tube to hold the batteries and a very esthetically pleasing inverted trumpet for the base. It is both safe and beautiful! The base also houses an interactive LED ring that turns the Battery into a passive light fixture that can be changed in color and intensity through our App. Modular Design: The small battery size of 1 kWh allowed us to create a modular design, where the battery becomes the unifying aspect of our system. One main battery allows 3 expansion batteries, taking the capacity to 4kWh. Use the individual batteries - at home, - during camping, - inside camping vans and tiny homes, or - use them for e-mobility. E-Mobility Ready Design: The e-mobility aspect of our battery has always been a major driver in the design. From the form-factor to the 48 Volt design, the battery was always meant to be a companion to your daily activities. Materials: Unlike most battery manufacturers, we try to use plastics sparingly, instead opting for Aluminium to improve product stability and haptic. It is also a quality issue, as our aim is to improve durability. Since the battery is also useable outdoors, UV radiation would degrade plastics over time.
